Description

Hey guys i copied this monkey from a photo on the internet, but in the photo the monkey doesn't look that sad..

for :icongimmefeedback:
i want to know why it seems that the monkey looks sad? Which attributes make a face look sad?
and can you think of an eligible background?
I thought of maybe a tree in the jungle that is being felled.
Do you have any cool ideas for it?
Any other thoughts or peculiarities?

The picture was drawed ( until now ) with pencils and permanent oil pastels. ( Also the monkey isn't finished yet. )

Hi! I like this even it's not finished, I suppose it surely could became a fantastic work when you'll add the proper background...
I think you may choose something simple like a tree with a blurred background mainly green (for example, you may want to put this scene in a forest, and maybe draw one or two other monkeys behind this, just to give an idea of portraying a little group or community)
...reading what other deviants have said about the facial expression, I agree with SketchBookStyle when he (or she? whoops, I don't know!) says the rised eyebrows are the key factor, the monkey looks sad because of them, in fact, if you look only at its eyes or only at lips they don't suggest much sadness in my humble opinion, however keep working on it, I can't wait to see the finished version! :D
p.s. hope the feedback helps! bye!
